This question is for writers and book readers: How does everyone feel about self publishing?
I am going to self publish my first novel in a few days. I have surprisingly already have done television interviews for it. I already have a plan to market it. And I am going to make my way into the mainstream literary world with this book.
Oh yeah my book is about a young boy who gets kidnapped to another world.
Self-publishing is definitely NOT for everyone just like how traditional publishers ARE NOT for everyone too. Whatever works for you is the key – as long as you get your book out there. There were self-published books that actually MADE it to bookstores. There were even authors who are popular – such as James Taylor and all who opted to self-publish because they don’t want to go to the mainstream publishing industry.
Traditional publishers just don’t know a good thing when they see one. Not all traditional publishers actually made the BEST decision when it comes to choosing books. Do you know that several best selling authors have been turned down by publishers? Stephen King, author of Gone with The Wind and Chicken Soup have been rejected by publishers and were not even given the second glance.
